Walter Tavares was named Endesa League MVP for January. The Real Madrid centre averaged 16.2 points (86.1% from two-point range), 7 rebounds, 1 steal, 3.2 blocks and 26.8 PIR in the five games played. The man from Cape Verde will share the award with Lenovo Tenerife's centre Shermadini.
Tavares got the month off to a great start with a double-double against Barça in the Clásico in round 14 with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 30 PIR. In the next game, he scored 21 points without a miss, five blocks and 25 PIR in the win against Gran Canaria. In the away game against Covirán Granada, he repeated his double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists for 28 PIR.
