The reserve team had the lion's share of the chances but could only manage a draw against a direct rival.

Castilla earned a point at the Alfredo Di Stéfano after a goalless draw against Racing de Ferrol in the 20th round of the Primera RFEF. Raúl's team had numerous chances in the top half of the table clash but failed to beat the opposition goalkeeper. With this draw the Whites maintain a streak of 14 games unbeaten and are still undefeated at home.

After a tentative first few minutes, the reserve team began to gain control of the ball and came dangerously close to the Galician side's area. Iker Bravo had the first chance in the 12th minute with a shot from the edge of the area, but he was denied by Gazzaniga. Castilla began to get into their stride and, with quick combinations and electric play down the flanks, changed the tempo of the game. In the 26th minute, a great link-up between Arribas and Obrador left the latter in a  good position to make a run down the left flank. The defender played an excellent through-ball to Iker Bravo which the striker missed by inches. Three minutes later, Álvaro Martín could have opened the scoring with a shot that went just wide.

This period saw Real Madrid dominate the game. So much so that Racing de Ferrol did not trouble Mario de Luis until the 39th minute, when the goalkeeper made a good save from a shot by Chacón that took a nasty deflection of a defender. The first half ended goalless and with the game open wide. However, after the restart, it was Castilla again that took the initiative in attack and in the 52nd minute finally found the net, but the referee disallowed Álvaro Martín's goal for offside by Mario Martín, as the midfielder was judged to have been involved in the play.

Castilla Tried Right up Until the End
From that point on, the reserves laid siege to their opponents' goal for ten minutes, but Racing upped the intensity and the game turned into an end-to-end affair. The Galicians had a great chance when Álex López's free-kick hit the crossbar after clipping the wall (61th minute), and shortly after, Manu Justo came close to being left alone in front of De Luis (66th minute). In the 70th minute, Theo, who came on in the first half after Dotor's injury, had a chance but his shot whilst running went just wide. Raúl tried to break the deadlock with some attacking changes, but in the end the score remained unchanged.
