Real Madrid failed to secure victory on their trip to the Príncipe Felipe in round seven of the league season. Chus Mateo's side trailed in a match where they were lacking shooting accuracy and in which Casademont Zaragoza turned in a very good performance. After being 16 down with seven minutes to go, our team rallied and almost pulled off a comeback in the final stages of the game. Musa, with 16 points and 19 PIR, led the way for Madrid.
The home side's strong start enabled them to control the first quarter convincingly. Real Madrid found it difficult to get going and lacked fluency in attack. Casademont Zaragoza took an 11-point lead at 20-9 with nine minutes gone. Madrid improved their scoring with Llull on the court, but Los Maños were very comfortable in attack led by Jessup, Sant-Roos and Mara. Our team couldn't impose themselves on the paint and had to resort to individual talent. Captain Sergio Rodríguez and Deck kept Chus Mateo's team in it during a first half that ended 48-36.

Madrid couldn't find the way to change the dynamic of the game despite giving it a go, unable to find any rhythm in their play. The opposite was true of their opponents, who found a way to beat Madrid's defence and keep the lead above ten points for a large part of the third quarter. Musa delivered a good spell to bring our team to within 8 points, but Fisac's side responded quickly to open up a maximum lead going into the final quarter (79-63, min.33).
Madrid unable to complete the comeback
Facing an uphill task, our team called upon their pride. Real Madrid reacted defensively and strung together their best minutes in attack. Llull, Hezonja and Tavares reduced the deficit to four points with two minutes on the clock at 88-84. Yabusele missed a three-pointer that would have brought us within one and Casademont Zaragoza countered through Jessup, who became the hero for the home side (94-89, min.40). On Thursday, the next Euroleague game at home against Anadolu Efes (7:45pm, CET).
