Real Madrid fans revel in Decimocuarta party

The players and fans came together to celebrate the Champions League crown secured in Paris.

Everybody agrees. This latest Champions League triumph is one of the most special in our history on account of the route involved in claiming the trophy. The day after the team clinched the  Decimocuarta (the club's 14th European Cup) in Paris, the Real Madrid fans reveled in the stunning celebrations that demonstrated the togetherness between the players and fans.

The streets of Madrid became a sea of white as fans followed the champions on their parade. The starting point was the Santiago Bernabéu, from where the squad headed on towards the institutions  to parade the the 14th European Cup crown and the 35th LaLiga title at the Almudena Cathedral, the Community of Madrid headquarters and the city hall,  as wave upon wave of madridistas packed out the centre of the Spanish capital to savour the moment with their heroes.

The squad then continued on towards the Plaza de Cibeles, where they were welcomed with chants of  “Campeones, campeones”. The celebrations were amazing and the players got off the bus and headed onto the stage that had been set up on the fountain, where they danced and sung along with the fans. It was important to keep up the tradition and so captain Marcelo duly draped a Real Madrid scarf and flag over the goddess amongst chanting from the fans.

This perfect day was rounded off with further celebrations at the Santiago Bernabéu, where the players and supporters had kept the Decimocuarta dream alive. Those in attendance at the stadium enjoyed an emotional end to the celebrations. Under an impressive show of lights and sound, the Champions League heroes set foot onto the pitch. Carlo Ancelotti and Marcelo addressed the audience to thank the club's supporters and everyone burst into a rendition of Hala Madrid y nada más. The fireworks, the We are the Champions song in the background and the group photos brought the curtain down on an unforgettable day for the club’s fans.
