Notification to the High Sports Council in regards to the LaLiga Impulse Project

We share the sentiments expressed in the statement issued today by the Real Federación Española de Fútbol (RFEF), reiterating once again that the LaLiga Impulse Project is incompatible with our legal framework and, as such, should not be carried out.
We confirm to our members and fans that, just as the RFEF requests the intervention of the relevant authorities in this regard, yesterday Athletic Club, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid issued communication to the High Sports Council, in understanding that, in exercising its powers, it is their duty to avoid irreparable harm being inflicted on football in our country, in particular highlighting that:
• The Extraordinary General Assembly of LaLiga called for the 10th of December 2021, "intends to definitively enforce a flagrant breach of the legal framework applicable to LaLiga and the audiovisual rights of Spanish football.
• LaLiga's reaction to the three clubs' repeated requests "has been to undertake a fierce campaign of attacks, misinformation and, first and foremost, to refuse to consider the alternative solution proposed", maintaining their plans intact.
• "Article 8.s) of the Sports Law bestows the High Sports Council with the power of guarantor of the material legality of regulations which govern the world of sports".
• Should the Higher Sports Court fail "to exercise its powers, serious irregularities could arise which would seriously compromise not only the economic future of Spanish football, but also the legal framework adopted by legislators in order to govern said sport".
• In any case, should “the LaLiga plans in relation to the LaLiga Impulse Project be approved, we would be inevitably obliged to bring all and any relevant legal action of all and any applicable nature".
