This afternoon the RCDE Stadium welcomes the league leaders, where Real Madrid take on Espanyol (4:15 pm CET) on matchday eight of LaLiga. The Whites will be vying to pick up another three points and cement their place at the top of the table. A win would be the team’s sixth in the competition, in which Madrid also remain unbeaten.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side go into the clash on the back of an impressive month of September in the league, after recording three wins out of a possible four, whilst scoring 13 goals in the process. Madrid kick off October in Barcelona before a two-week break due to both the international fixture calendar and the postponement of the Real Madrid-Athletic, corresponding to matchday nine.

“We've struggled for goals in our last two games and have to solve that by playing with balance and energy”, said Ancelotti in the press conference ahead of the clash. On the side’s last visit to Espanyol, Casemiro and Benzema produced a fine piece of link-up play to seal the points, and both players have been named in the Italian coach’s squad for the match.
The Catalan side went into the weekend in fourteenth place, on six points, with a record of one win, three draws and three defeats. The hosts will be looking to Raúl de Tomás to add to his tally of two goals and one assist so far this season.
