Real Madrid - Sevilla

Asensio: “We'll keep fighting for the LaLiga”

NEWS | 09/05/2021 | Bárbara Jiménez

"We're still alive with three games left and we're going to give our all until the end", Modric added.
Real Madrid came up against Sevilla at the Di Stéfano stadium and Asensio gave his assessment of the game: "We had a great second half and should have took the three points. We picked up a point and fought until the end, we've got three games left and we'll keep fighting for the LaLiga. A referee's decision conditions the match, I don't know if it's fair or not, from my point of view it's accidental, but in the end it's up to each referee's discretion".

"From my point of view, it looks like a Sevilla player touched it just before, he brushed it and then it hit Militão's hand, but it was accidental, he wasn't even looking at the ball. There's a lot at stake here, the league, and it's a decision that could have affected our chances of picking up the three points and taking the lead. We're angry because we didn't get the win due to a decision that I don't know if it's fair. We could have been awarded a penalty and it would have changed the course of the game for sure. I don't know if we would have scored it or not, but it conditions the match. We can't change anything now and we have to keep fighting".

Second half
"They came out better in the first half and had more of the ball and in the second half we pressed more, won the ball back more higher up the pitch and had more chances. It's a shame because we had chances, but it wasn't to be".

Modric: "We deserved to win. We did everything to come away with a win".

"We have to win the last three games, I'm positive and confident that they will slip up because it's been a very hard-fought league. We have to win our three games and hopefully we can win LaLiga".

Modric: "We deserved to win".
"We've dropped two points, we did everything to win the game. We deserved to win, but we've come away with a point. We played quite well, especially in the second half and created a lot of chances, but we didn't convert them and at the end we were awarded a penalty that ended up being a penalty for the other side. I'm not sure if it was a handball or not, I didn't see it. It's unlucky, but we're still very much alive, there are three games left to play and we're going to give our all until the end".

"We found it difficult to get into the game in the first half, but were much better in the second half. We did everything we could to get the win. It's a shame, but we're still there. I'm physically strong as are the rest of the players. We're looking forward to playing our remaining games and trying to win all three of them".

Fight for LaLiga
"We were hoping it would be in our hands, but now it's not going to be like that. We have to focus on our game, not the others and try to win the three we've got left. All the teams are dropping points. We have to keep believing".
