Real Madrid's next Champions League opponents overcame Spezia in Serie A.
Real Madrid's next opponents in the second leg of their last-16 Champions League tie (Tuesday, 9pm CET), Atalanta, won 3-1 against Spezia on matchday 27 of the Italian League. A brace from Croatian Mario Pašalić and a delightful goal from Colombian Luis Muriel gave the Italians the win as they controlled the game.
The Bergamo side had to wait until the start of the second half to break the deadlock. In the space of two minutes, Gasperini's side went two goals ahead, first through Pasalic and then Muriel, who fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner. With 20 minutes to go, the Croatian scored his second of the game, but Spezia pulled one back through Piccoli (81'), who is currently on loan from Atalanta. The result keeps Atalanta in the fight for the Champions League places with a record of 15 wins, 7 draws and 5 defeats.
