NEWS | 05/12/2020 | Rodrigo Salamanca“It's always significant to win at the Sánchez-Pizjuán and the victory gives us confidence for Wednesday”, said Nacho.
“We had no doubts at all today. We knew we'd have to dig in to win it. This season is proving pretty unique so far. There are loads of games, one every two days. We're all struggling a bit to get going but we played well. We have to keep improving and picking up the points we need".
The move that led to the goal
“We train an awful lot to see that move with Karim and Mendy come off. A lot of our play goes down the left-hand side and we're really happy because we won the game and played very well. I try and enjoy every game Zidane gives me because he instils real confidence in me and in all the other players too. I was brimming with confidence today”.
"We're always calm and confident. Playing for Real Madrid comes with pressure but we like that pressure. We have to keep doing what we've done today. We won't stop. We're getting ready for the match on Wednesday, we've been focused on putting in a big performance. We can't get carried away and have to play like we did today, go out and give everything on the pitch and win it".
Nacho: "We played at a very high level"
"Today was a special day and it's always important to win here. We're very happy to come away with the three points, thanks to the team's hard work and the victory gives us a boost ahead of Wednesday's game. We had to defend well and play close together and compact. The team performed very well throughout the whole match and we took advantage of the chance we had in the second half".
"In the first half we had a lot more chances, but going ahead gives you more confidence. Football is like that. You score when you least deserve to, but we played at a very high level during the ninety minutes and it's a fair win. We're going into Wednesday's game full of confidence because this victory gives us a big morale boost.
"I feel very good physically and mentally and I'm looking forward to every game. I help the team as much as I can and I've played a lot of games in succession".
