The Whites visit the French side in the first game of the year with the hope of getting a 12th Euroleague win in a row (8:45pm CET).
First game in 2020 for Real Madrid as they visit France to face ASVEL Villeurbanne on Euroleague game day 17 (Friday, 8:45pm CET). The Whites closed the year as competition leaders and they want to keep that great run of 11 consecutive European wins up this year. They face a team who in the middle of the table and who are on good form, having won their last three home games (Khimki, Alba Berlin and Armani Exchange Milan).
Tonight's game is the first one in a tough January where Pablo Laso's team will play 10 games, six in Euroleague and four in LaLiga. After 2019 where they beat their record of wins in a year (68), The WHites want to keep this dynamic up and start 2020 well.

The last visit to ASVEL in the competition took place in 2002.

ASVEL Villeurbanne go into the game with a balance of eight wins and eight losses in the competition. Zvezdan Mitrovic's team are putting in sensational performances on their home court, where they have only lost two games from eight. In terms of players, Jekiri has been key (averaging 14.7 PIR and 9.6 points) and Payne (11 and 10). “They are a physical team that plays with real energy. It will be key to be mentally prepared from the start,” warned Laso.

To win, Real Madrid must be defensive. Laso's team have been good in defense so far: The y have conceded the third fewest points (76.6) and are second on the defensive rebound (25.7). The last madridista visit to ASVEL in the Euroleague was in 2002 and the Whites won (64-76).
