“We are confident, we are on a good run and that showed on the pitch”, claimed Reguilón.
Courtois and Reguilón spoke to the press at the Wanda Metropolitano after Real Madrid beat Atlético (1-3). The goalkeeper said: “We are all thrilled because we played well and deserved the win. We've gone ahead in the league table, and we need to do that if we want to win LaLiga: win games and hope our rivals drop points. We need to do the same on Wednesday and put in a good Champions League performance”.

“The eleven players out there were convincing, we defended well and did well in attack. We knew they would attack from the off but we snuffed out the danger a bit at 0-1. At 1-1 we stayed calm and kept possession. Ramos took his penalty well, we knew he would get us a goal. He had to press in the first fifteen minutes of the second half, and score again to kill the game”.

Controlling the game
“This is what teamwork is about, fighting, sacrificing for each other and playing well. We have some real quality and we were clam on the ball. We knew that they would be capable of strong, pressing play, but we came out the other side, we did some great counter-attacking. I think Vinicius is a top player, he won us a penalty and played exceptionally well”.

Reguilón: "We are a team and things went as they should have today".

“I’m here to play games and win. I’ve got the utmost respect for Atlético de Madrid and their fans, having been here for three years and enjoyed some fantastic moments. You’d like them to welcome you back in a different way, like at Chelsea. That’s the way it is if you sign for a big rival and these things happen. I’m focused on my work to try and win games alongside my teammates and we did just that today”.

Reguilón: “We’re full of confidence”
“We knew we’d go second with a win and we came into the game hungry and with lots of energy. It’s a derby, so there’s special motivation there and we put in a great performance in every respect. We’re full of confidence, we’re enjoying a great run of form and that’s being reflected out on the pitch. We all work for each other, we’re a team and everything is turning out the way it should”.

“Team is the key word here, it’s the most important element and the pillar around which our daily efforts are based. And when we all work hard and do our bit, ultimately the results take care of themselves. We’re going to keep fighting for everything. We knew it was a good chance to cut the gap today and we’ve managed it. We leave here with positive vibes because we knew how important it was and now we’ll head into the upcoming games with even more desire”.
