The captain is the only member of the squad who can lay claim to this record.

Sergio Ramos is a mainstay of the Real Madrid starting XI and has been for the past seven seasons, in which he has always commanded a place in the line-up for the team's LaLiga opener, a record held by no other member of the current squad. The side's undisputed defensive linchpin and the team's leader, Ramos is embarking on a new campaign that's full of challenges.

His on-field statistics speak volumes of his importance to the side. In the meeting with Getafe, he played his part in helping the Whites to a clean sheet, whilst, as always, he also posed a threat in the opposition's box on set pieces. In addition, he showcased his passing accuracy in the clash against Los Azulones, successfully completing 82 of his 85 attempted passes (96.47%).

Goalscoring account up and running
In the team's first competitive outing of the campaign, the UEFA Super Cup,
Ramos displayed his goalscoring prowess as he opened his account for the season. This wasn't the first time that the team captain has been on target in the competition, after getting his name on the scoresheet two years ago in the curtain-raiser to the 2016/17 season.
