Carvajal: “We've got the three points and now we have to keep it up"

NEWS | 25/11/2017

“The team's response at 2-2 was crucial”, added Vallejo.
Carvajal discussed the team’s win over Málaga at the Santiago Bernabéu: “We were the better team in the first half. The two goals we conceded came from our mistakes when playing out from the back, and that’s something we have to sort out, but I think we, the coach and the fans would all rather we conceded like that trying to play it out, than with poor defensive errors. We were a bit slower in the second half, but ultimately the key thing is that we’ve picked up three more points and put a bit of pressure on the league leaders. Now we have to keep it up”.
“The goal was crucial, they’ll start going in eventually. Cristiano had a great match. The important thing is that he’s getting chances. We’re already thinking about the Fuenlabrada game”.
Disallowed goal in the first half
“It was a 50-50 ball between Baysse and I, I’m about to jump for it and he raises his arms and gives me a push. I think it was a foul, but whether he blew for it or not, the referee makes the decisions and they must be respected, not questioned”.
Vallejo: “The response at 2-2 was crucial”
“We know there are no easy games and we have to fight for every win. These are three very important points. Málaga showed real intensity and they levelled things up twice. I’m proud of the team’s response at 2-2, Cristiano’s goal was crucial. We showed real character to get the third goal. After that we felt more comfortable”.

Lucas: "They drew it level twice but the team never let their heads drop".

"We like to play to the best of our ability, win and entertain the fans. Today it wasn’t possible, but we won and that’s what’s important after the draw. We’ve done our homework, we have to come back strong as there are a lot of games left and we have to go into them in the best possible way and fight for everything until the death. Winning games make you feel confident and we feel happier. Thanks to the fans for getting behind us and pushing us to the end to get the third goal.
"He’s an example and he deserves all he achieves due to the work he puts in. It’s a pleasure to play alongside him. The goals are not only important, it’s the assists that bring so much to the team".
Lucas Vázquez: "The team never let their heads drop"
"It was an important match for us. The three points were our objective, we got them and we’re happy for that. Maybe the result looks closer than it felt out on the field, but we have to take the positives. They’ve drawn level twice, but we didn't let our heads drop, we kept going and got the win".
Personal feelings
"I'm happy to be playing again and to be able to help the team, creating chances, working hard and knowing that there’s more games to come. Our objective before Christmas is to win every match. We’ve won two and we have to continue picking up points like this"

Varane: "The team has shown it’s character"
"This season is proving difficult. It’s becoming more difficult because the opposition come here and give everything. We know it's going to get harder every time and we prepare for that. We can improve and we’re working hard to find our best level, although the opposition deserve real credit. The team has shown more character and desire to score more goals".
"Sometimes this happens in football, sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don’t. The goals for Cristiano and for Karim are very important. Cristiano is working hard and we’re sure that with more service he’ll get more goals".
