Marcelo: "It was a tough game”

NEWS | 29/10/2016 | Alberto Navarro (Vitoria)

“It was difficult but the important thing is that we picked up the three points”, said Kovacic.
Marcelo was Real Madrid captain on the team's visit to Alavés and he had this to say about the match: “Alavés always make the game tough, as we’ve seen so far this season. They don’t make it easy for you. We managed to score goals but it was a difficult match. We had to get the third goal to be comfortable at the end and I’m happy for Morata because he deserves it”.

“Cristiano is fine. Perhaps he was a bit angry before because forwards live to score goals. Cristiano has scored loads of them and he’s happy with the goals today but more so with the three points”.

Referee
“I’m not going to discuss the referee. It can happen to any team, sometimes it goes your way and sometimes it doesn’t. It’s not easy to referee a La Liga match and the officials can get things wrong”.

Kovacic: “We're top of the league and we have to keep this up”
“It was a difficult match but the most important thing is that we got the three points. We've got three draws and several wins and we're looking good, top of the league and we need to keep this up”.

Keylor Navas: "It was a fair result".

“Cristiano has scored three goals and he's happy, as we all are, but the most important thing is that we win games, not who scores. Morata is a very good striker and he gets goals too when he comes on, he's a crucial player for us”.

Keylor Navas: “We deserved the win”
“Alavés played a great match and there were periods where we struggled to threaten their area. They know what their game plan is but the most important thing for us was the win and taking three points, so we're happy. They took advantage of spaces we left for the goal. We have to be prepared at all times and focused from the first minute until the last”.

“We can't think we've lost the game whenever we concede a goal, nor must we relax and think the game is won if we score. The team is aware we have to keep fighting for the entire game in order to win and today was a case in point”.

Refereeing decisions
“I’ve got nothing to gain by criticising the refs. They work just like players in order to go into the game in the best way possible. It’s not that I don’t talk about the referees, it’s just that I don’t have anything to criticize them for today. The result was fair, We made the most of our chances, we scored four goals and deserved the win. We're all happy, Cristiano is too. You can’t go home feeling down after having scored three goals”.
