The defender made it 50 La Liga victories in tonight's clash against Espanyol.
With tonight's victory over Espanyol, Varane extended his win tally with Real Madrid in La Liga to 50 games. The centre back assessed the team's spirits after the encounter: “We never threw in the towel. We all have to give it 100% right until the very end and we'll continue to do so up until the Getafe game. We wanted to win the title, but sometimes that can't be done. We gave it our all, this is an extremely professional side”.

“There were key moments during the season in which we weren't able to pick up vital points and we lacked a bit of luck at times. It wasn't enough. We have to congratulate the champions because they have done very well. We'll try to win it next year.

50 wins
The French defender reached this number in his fourth season with the Whites. His first triumph in the Spanish topflight came on 24 September 2011 in a match against Rayo Vallecano in the Santiago Bernabéu (6-2).

To get to this milestone figure, Varane has only needed 64 La Liga appearances with Real Madrid. Of his 50 wins, 30 have been at home and 20 on the road. This season has been his best in terms of the number of victories: 21 from 26 encounters.
