Kashima Antlers was been named champion of the AFC Champions League for the first time ever. The Japanese team won the first leg of the final 2-0 against the Iranian side Persépolis, and drew 0-0 in the second leg. This however is their second time in the FIFA Club World Cup, the first appearance they made was in 2016, reaching the final against Real Madrid.
