The breakthrough partnership makes Star the “Official Beer Partner in Nigeria” of Real Madrid, as it will see Star Larger team up with one of the most successful football club in Europe.

As Star continues to lay a trail of unmatchable excellence in football sponsorships following last week’s announcement of its partnership agreement with the Nigeria Professional Football League, Nigeria’s foremost beer brand has brought European football even closer to many fans with this new agreement.

“We are really excited to become the Official Beer Partner of Real Madrid in Nigeria.  Being the oldest beer brand in this market and joining forces with one of the biggest club in Europe, this partnership will take our consumers’ passion for good football to unprecedented heights” said Managing Director, Nigerian Breweries, Nicolaas Vervelde.

Star’s partnership with Real Madrid will give it access to the club’s imagery and archives of great content that will be pushed into the beer market in Nigeria. With its recent rolling out of a partnership with the Nigeria Professional Football League that saw Star unveil a first of its kind NPFL-branded bottle, Star will also put the Real Madrid brand to good use on its assets, both physical and online. Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries, Franco Maria-Maggi while speaking at the event disclosed that “We hope to bring unrivaled value to our consumers who love Real Madrid as Star has unprecedented plans to roll out all the mechanisms to ensure the success of this partnership” he said.

Going forward, a bottle of Star would symbolize more than just another larger, it would mean a communion between a fan and the pride, history and colours of their favourite club side, Real Madrid. With Star and Real Madrid in the same stead, Nigerian football fans are assured of enjoying an unforgettable experience of five football seasons filled with branded give away items, trips to the Santiago Bernabeu and visits to Nigeria by some of the club’s legends. Further more, consumers of the country’s foremost beer brand will have the opportunity of becoming bigger stakeholders in the affairs of their favourite club, Real Madrid.

STAR has consistently been a long-standing supporter of football, from championing the national team to the World Cup through its “Shine On Nigeria” campaign to testing the passion, knowledge and skills of football fans through the Star Super fans game show, the beer brand has continued to demonstrate huge support for the development and appreciation of football in Nigeria. Since the first STAR lager beer bottle rolled out of the bottling lines in the Lagos brewery in 1949, the brand has been a market leader and was listed by the African Business magazine in its 100 Most Admired African Brands in 2015. Star has put its expansive platform to good use in promoting music and youth lifestyle through projects like STAR Music Trek, STAR Quest and STAR Mega Jam.

This new partnership with Real Madrid can only bring Star and its Nigerian market brighter times.
