Coentrão joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2011 after performing superbly for Benfica and the Portuguese national team. As well as being a great defender, he liked to get forward and attack, which allowed him to make over one hundred appearances for the Whites.
His most memorable matches included the Champions League final in Lisbon in 2014, which he started in to defeat Atlético Madrid and clinch La Décima. He was also in the starting eleven in the 2014 victory over Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup and in that year's Copa del Rey final against Barcelona at Mestalla.
Another great moment for the Portuguese was the 2011/12 season, which saw him win LaLiga with 100 points and perform outstandingly well. At the end of his spell at Real Madrid, including a loan spell at Monaco (2015/16), Coentrão boasted 10 trophies to his name.
