Part of the impressive Madrid side of the 1960s

Julio Descartín represented Real Madrid for 5 seasons, during which time he was involved in the team's first two European Cups as the club's basketball section rose to continental dominance. The Zaragoza-born ace joined the club under Pedro Ferrándiz's orders in 1961 at 18 years of age.

In his time as a madridista he played alongside other legends including Emiliano Rodríguez and Clifford Luyk. He also got his hands on 5 League titles and 3 Copas de España, as well as making 23 appearances for the Spain national side. Following his retirement, he remained in sport as an executive at Real Zaragoza from 1971 to 1977. Julio Descartín passed away on 21 June 2010 at 68 years of age.
