Today is the 31 years since Real Madrid's basketball team won their 26th League title. On 23 May 1993, our team lifted the trophy when they won the fifth decisive clash against Joventut in the final. The madridistas won the opening two games of the series at home, but Joventut hit back, winning the next two in Badalona. Sabonis was the key man in the 78-69 title-decider, with 22 points and 10 rebounds. The Lithuanian was named final MVP.
Real Madrid were also the best team in the Regular Season with a record of 25 wins and 6 defeats. In the knock-outs, they came past Valvi Girona (Round of 16), Elosúa León (quarters) and Estudiantes (semifinals). The victory over Joventut in the final saw Clifford Luyk's team seal the double that season, having already won the Copa del Rey against the same opponent.
