Marco Asensio continued his scoring streak in his debuts for Real Madrid with a debut goal in the Spanish Super Cup. The midfielder got the last goal to make it 3-1 with a great effort from the edge of the area to beat Ter Stegen. The madridista analysed the match: "We got a good result, we’ve got to come away happy, but there’s still the second leg and we can’t get complacent. We have to prepare as well as possible and perform again to win the Super Cup".
"I’m happy to have got my goal and also with the team’s victory. We’ll go in to the match at the Bernabéu with the same desire and enthusiasm as today. We’re on a good run, the whole team is together and we’re playing as one. That can be seen out on the field and in the results. I hadn’t played in the Spanish Super Cup, I scored the goal and it’s something that will go down in history. Lucas picked up the ball and saw me well, I had a clear shot and it went in".
His other debuts
Last season, Asensio played his first official Real Madrid game in the European Super Cup, scoring a goal against Sevilla. On his LaLiga debut against Real Sociedad he scored at Anoeta. In his first few minutes of Champions League action, he scored against Legia Warsaw at the Bernabéu, whilst in the Copa del Rey he managed to score against Cultural Leonesa.
