Di María has been a key piece of Ancelotti's plans in this season's Champions League. The Argentina international has played 10 of the 12 games that have seen them reach Lisbon, and in addition to his immense work in the centre of the pitch, he has brought goals and assists. He has scored three times and laid on five goals. Now he goes into the final as the top assists provider in the competition, bettering Van der Wiel, Rooney and Oscar, who all have four.
Real Madrid started its European campaign with a 6-1 win away to Galatasaray. In that match, Di María provided two assists, the first for Isco and then Benzema. Against Juventus, in the Santiago Bernabéu, the Argentinian provided the pass to set up the first for Cristiano Ronaldo. This combination was repeated in the 4-0 win over Copenhagen, when Di María set up a header for the Portuguese with a rabona. And finally, he provided another assist against Galatasaray, this time for Arbeloa.
