On 16 April 2014, Real Madrid got their hands on a nineteenth Copa del Rey when they beat Barcelona in the final held in Valencia. Di María opened the  scoring early on, before Bartra made it 1-1 with 65 minutes gone. The standout moment of the clash came with just five minutes remaining. Bale set off on a quite spectacular run, powering his way towards goal to find the back of the net and send the trophy the way of the Whites.

The result was a nineteenth Copa del Rey crown and Carlo Ancelotti's first trophy as madridista coach. On their way to the title, Real Madrid came past Olímpic de Xàtiva, Osasuna, Espanyol and Atlético de Madrid.
