Real Madrid kick off a brand new European Cup campaign by taking on Union Berlin at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium (Wednesday, 6:45pm CEST). It will be the 54th time our club has taken part in the competition, as they will also face Napoli and Braga in Group C.
There is no other club that has qualified for the European Cup as many times as Real Madrid, having lifted the trophy 14 times since the competition's inception in 1955. The nearest side is Benfica, who are playing for the 43rd time this year. Behind them come Bayern Munich, who have been involved in the competition 40 times.

Our team also dominates the record for most wins (285), most matches played (476) and most goals scored (1,047). Moreover, it leads the tournament's all-time ranking. UEFA calculates this ranking according to a system that awards each team two points for a win and one for a draw in the matches they have played since the tournament's inception. Real Madrid tops the ranking with 651 points, followed by Bayern Munich (534) and Barcelona (470).
