Real Madrid embark on their campaign in the Copa de la Reina Final Four this evening as they face Athletic Club in the semi-finals (9:00pm CEST). Alberto Toril's team, who clinched qualification by thrashing Albacete in the Round of 16 (0-6) and coming past Villarreal in the quarters (1-2), will now look to book their place in the final at the Municipal Butarque (Leganés), scene for the competition's last run of games.
Our team will be keen to put the gloss on a positive season by getting their hands on a first title in their history. They are just two games away from doing so. If they manage to qualify for the final, the madridistas will play for the trophy on Saturday night at 10:00pm against Alhama/Atlético, who beat Alhama/Atlético in the other semi-final (X-X).
The opposition
Athletic Club clinched their ticket to the Final Four by beating Madrid CFF (0-1) and Osasuna (1-2). In the League, the Basque side finished in tenth, on 35 points. Our opposition tonight have been runners-up in the Copa de la Reina on two occasions (2012 and 2014).
