47 years since the 18th Basketball League

Forty-seven years ago, Real Madrid won their 18th basketball league title. On 20 March 1976, our team mathematically won the title by beating Barcelona (114-76) with five games remaining in the championship. The squad led by Lolo Sainz finished the league with a record of 29 wins and 3 defeats.  
 
For this edition, the domestic competition was divided into two parts. First, the Regular League, in which Real Madrid was the best team. Then, a second phase between the teams with the most wins, in which Real Madrid secured the title with five games to go. Walter Szczerbiak was the top scorer in the league that season with an average of 30.9 points per game. This was Real Madrid's ninth consecutive league title.
