The Sagrados Corazones Church in Madrid has played host to a funeral mass for our honorary president Amancio Amaro, who passed away on the 21st of February. The religious ceremony held in memory of our club legend and world football star was attended by president Florentino Pérez and members of the Board of Directors. Also present were the club's Director of Institutional Relations, Emilio Butragueño, club legends including Pirri, Emiliano Rodríguez, Martín Vázquez, San José and Solari, among others, as well as fans and friends, who wished to join Amancio Amaro's family.
Amancio, who passed away at 83 years of age, played for Real Madrid between 1962 and 1976. A footballing legend, he led the Real Madrid team which won the 6th European Cup, scoring a stunning goal in the final. He also got his hands on 9 LaLiga titles and 3 Copas de España as a player. In his spell as a coach, he brought through the Quinta del Buitre and clinched a historic Second Division title at the Castilla helm. In October 2022, he was named Real Madrid honorary president.
