Real Madrid beat Athletic at the Di Stéfano with goals by Esther and Feller.

Real Madrid beat Athletic on LaLiga matchday 17. Alberto Toril's side achieved their second win of the week after Wednesday's victory in Vitoria and close January with a full house of victories in La Liga. Esther ('26) and Feller ('64) put the Whites ahead. Amezaga pulled one back for the visitors (66'), but the three points were to stay at the Alfredo Di Stéfano and Real Madrid now boast eight consecutive league wins.

After an opening few minutes with no clear chances, Madrid took control of possession. However, in the 18th minute, Athletic had a good opportunity with a cross from Ohiane that was deflected off Svava. It didn't take long for Madrid to respond and Esther's header from a corner went narrowly wide in the 19th minute. The striker did manage to open the scoring in the 26th minute however. Quiñones cleared two Madrid shots but Esther, reacting quickly to pick up the loose ball, finally managed to beat the Athletic keeper. It was her 12th league goal in the competition.

Feller's Goal
With the score in their favor, Toril's team continued to threaten the opponent's goalmouth and could have increased the lead before the break with chances by Esther and Weir. After the restart, Toletti tried her luck with a free kick that was blocked by Quiñones. The madridistas were looking for their second and, in the 64th minute, Feller hit the mark thanks to a perfectly weighted pass from Weir. However, two minutes later, Athletic pulled one back with a shot from Amezaga that took a deflection off Kathellen to leave Misa stranded (66'). The visitors looked for an equalizer, but Madrid were very solid and the scoreboard wasn't to change.
