Real Madrid were defeated away to PSG and will not be in the quarter-finals of the Women's Champions League. Following two goals from the home side, Claudia Zornoza pulled one back in the 81st minute. Toril's side, who had chances to equalise and even hit the woodwork three times, failed to score and will close the group stage on Thursday against KKF Vllaznia at the Di Stéfano (9pm CET).
It was high intensity stuff early on with a shot hitting the upright for both sides. The Parisians took the lead in the 15th minute through De Almeida's header from a corner. Just past the half-hour mark, Misa saved Baltimore's second in a one-on-one. Toletti responded with a shot from outside the box that would again find the post. With just two minutes to go before the break, Weir could have drawn level with a shot from the penalty spot that ended up in Bouhaddi's hands.
Madrid Look for an Equaliser
No sooner than coming out of the changing rooms, Athenea came close to equalising with a shot from the edge of the box that hit the crossbar. In the 57th minute, Baltimore responded with a long-range attempt that rattled the crossbar. Three minutes later, however, Olga was awarded a penalty, which Diani converted. After the 2-0 lead, the Parisians could have added to their lead, but Misa's good work prevented them from doing so. Zornoza, shortly after coming on, was able to reduce the deficit with a good shot from just inside the box. Madrid searched for an equaliser right up until the end, but the scoreboard wasn’t to change.
