NEWS STORY. 08/11/2022

Homage was paid to Real Madrid's late honorary president at an event attended by Emilio Butragueño.

Tribute was paid to Francisco Gento at the ninth edition of the María de Villota Awards, as part of the prize gala within the Premios Ciudad de la Raqueta. The late honorary president of our club, who passed away on 18 January 2022, received the award posthumously in the Sporting Career category, alongside the Llorente-Gento family. The trophies were presented by Emilio Butragueño, Real Madrid's Director of Institutional Relations.
A legend for madridismo and football around the world, Gento played for our club for 18 seasons and is the only man to have got his hands on six European Cups. His peerless trophy haul is completed by 12 LaLiga titles, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 2 Copas Latinas, 2 Copas de España and 1 Small Club World Cup. Gento made 600 competitive appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 182 goals.
