Real Madrid visit Leipzig this evening (9pm CET) will the aim of picking up a positive result that will secure their place as groups leaders for the draw on 7 November. Having sealed their place in the last 16 of the Champions League last time out against Shakhtar, the Whites head to the RB Arena in search of a win that would cement their position at the top of Group F. A draw would also be enough for the visitors.
Barely three days after producing a fine winning display against Sevilla, the LaLiga leaders must now turn their attention to the top European competition where they will be vying to extend their superb form. Carlo Ancelotti‘s men have done extremely well in what has been a highly demanding month and remain unbeaten since the season kicked off (14 wins and two draws).

The match against Leipzig will be another chance for Madrid to demonstrate they have strength in depth, as key players like Benzema, Modrić and Valverde will be absent from the squad. “The aim is to finish top of the group. We have to put on a good performance to be able to forget about this stage”, said Ancelotti in the press conference ahead of the clash.
Leipzig have come on in leaps and bounds since the start of the campaign and go into the clash on the back of seven games unbeaten. They currently sit in second place in Group F after winning their last match against Celtic and Marco Rose’s men will be looking to pick up a result this evening that moves them closer to the last 16. The last time these two sides met at the Santiago Bernabéu, the madridistas secured a 2-0 victory on matchday two of the group stage.
