The Real Madrid Foundation was among the winners of the Ibero-American Awards presented by the Ibero-American Communication Association (Asicom) in partnership with the University of Oviedo and Interprotección. These awards honour and reward individuals and groups that collaborate in the development of the historic region from different fields.
The award was presented to Ricardo Gallego, ambassador of the Real Madrid Foundation, by Cayetano Martínez de Irujo, president of the Asicom Chair of Ibero-American Culture and Sport, in the auditorium of the University of Oviedo. He was joined by the other award winners: the Uruguayan economist and politician Enrique Iglesias; the film producer Gerardo Herrero; the author Rosa Montero; the General Council of the Principality of Asturias and the Comunicar magazine.
On this occasion, the Club Prensa Asturiana gave a series of conferences for university students before the award ceremony. Cayetano Martínez de Irujo said: "I would like to congratulate the Real Madrid Foundation for the values it promotes, namely those of sport". Ricardo Gallego added that "the Foundation directs the club's social action within the framework of its corporate social responsibility. It is a non-profit organisation that runs social and sporting projects in the field of education, the integration of collectives at risk of exclusion and development cooperation".
