One week after Real Madrid kick started their season with the Super Cup triumph in Seville, the Whites face their first matchup at home. Madrid return to the WiZink Center to play in front of their fans 105 days after they clinched their 36th league title, as Chus Mateo’s charges welcome Monbus Obradoiro on matchday two of the competition (12:30pm CET).
The madridistas will be vying to build on their fine start to the season by securing a second win of the week, after Wednesday’s triumph in the league opener against Girona on a highly demanding court. Today, they face Monbus Obradoiro who were also victorious in their first matchup (76-73 against Casademont Zaragoza). Madrid have secured victory on the last nine consecutive occasions against the side from Galicia.

The Whites host a side who strengthened their squad in the summer with new inclusions like Blazevic, Guerrero, Bender and Paige. The latter two were the team’s top scorers (16 and 17 points, respectively) in their victory over Casademont Zaragoza. However, Madrid have performed well in these first few clashes of the season, especially under the hoop, where they will be looking to Tavares, who was named MVP of the Super Cup after a sublime display, with a PIR of 40.
Chus Mateo’s men have also been clinical from the three-point line, as they proved against Girona, with an accuracy rate of 56%, and with Hezonja on song, racking up five three-pointers and a total of 23 points. The Croatian small forward is one the team’s new additions who the fans will get a first glimpse of at the WiZink Center.
