Walter Tavares was named MVP for the 2021-22 league playoff final. The Cape Verde player spearheaded Real Madrid to their 36th title in this competition with an average in the series against Barça of 13.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 20 in PIR and a remarkable fourth-game performance, during which he recorded 41 in PIR (25 points and 13 rebounds). It’s been a difficult year. We managed to fight and work our way back to victory, which is the way we all like to win”.
“My job is to help my teammates in defence, then whatever they give me in attack is always appreciated, but my job is to defend. I'm always ready for whatever the team needs. I train hard, I always try to improve in attack because in defence I can play anywhere”.

In the second game, the center posted 11 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks and 15 in PIR. In the 81-66 triumph in the third game at the WiZink Center, he finished with 10 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 block and 15 in PIR. And in their title-winning game with the third victory of the series, Tavares put on his second best ever performance as a madridista with 25 points, 13 rebounds and 41 in PIR.
