Benzema played a pivotal role in Real Madrid’s stellar season, which saw the club clinch three trophies: Champions League, LaLiga and the Spanish Super Cup. The Frenchman, who netted 44 times, finished as the top goal scorer in both the Champions League and LaLiga. In the domestic competition, the striker found the net 27 times from 32 games, ahead of Aspas (18), Vini Jr. and De Tomás (17).
In Europe, Benzema registered 15 goals in 12 games (average 1.25), ahead of Lewandowski's 13 and Haller's 11. His most eye-catching performances came in the knockout rounds, when he scored 10 goals in five games to see off PSG, Chelsea and Manchester City. This form earned him the accolade of best player of the 2021/22 Champions League.
