Roberto Carlos presents collaboration between Noble Art and Real Madrid Foundation's programme in juvenile detention centres

NEWS STORY. 31/05/2022

Matías Noble's tattoo studio supports the running of the centres and will train minors at its recently opened Madrid academy.

Real Madrid ambassador and club legend Roberto Carlos today presented the collaboration agreement between the Noble Art tattoo studio and the Real Madrid Foundation’s programme in juvenile detention centres across the Community of Madrid. Thanks to this link-up, which supports the centres’ socio-sporting activities, beneficiaries aged 17 and 18 will have the chance to undertake specific, free training, such as tattoo artistry, at the artist’s workshop.

Matías Noble is regarded as one of the leading tattoo artists in Europe and was the driving force behind the Tatuajes para sanitarios (Tattoos for health workers) campaign in the battle against COVID-19 that saw thousands of health workers receive free tattoos. His Noble Art brand has a presence across the world and in cities such as New York, Madrid, Zurich, Andorra la Vieja and Valencia, amongst others.

Roberto Carlos: “There’s a social element to the world of tattoos”
During his address, Roberto Carlos spoke of the history of tattoos and the importance that tattoos have for many elite athletes and fans to represent their major achievements on their skin: “Besides the artistic and popular tattoos, there’s a social element to the world of tattoos, and I don’t just mean the charity tattoos, but those applied to medicine and aesthetic medicine, for example, in breast reconstruction or those who have suffered burns or any other sort of skin trauma.”
For his part, Noble commented that: “Training to be a tattoo artist and making a living from it could represent an attractive employment opportunity for the youngsters and offer them an opportunity on their path to social integration.”

Sport and art
It is estimated that around 20% of the population have a tattoo. The art form has progressed over the course of 30 years from the oriental cultures to the current boom of inked skin. Closely linked to sporting feats in the past decade, sport and art once again come together and on this occasion to enhance the employability of the minors in state care.
Charity tattoos
The tattoo artist also announced that on 3 June, Noble Art will be offering free tattoos to commemorate the trophies secured by Real Madrid this season. Designed by Noble, the tattoos offer fans the chance to commemorate the club’s 35th LaLiga title and 14th European Cup crown in a unique way.

The first 35 Real Madrid fans to arrive at the studio on calle Orense 69 (Madrid) from 09:30 (CET) will receive the free tattoos. The rest of those in attendance, will be offered a 14% discount on Real Madrid-related tattoos. The aim of his initiative is to donate 10% of the funds to the Foundation’s socio-sporting projects in reception centres and juvenile detention centres.
