Latasa put the academy side ahead in the first half but the hosts levelled after the break.

Real Madrid Castilla took a point on their visit to Algeciras. Our academy side fought to the end to take all three points which would have kept them in the running for the playoff spots on the final day. Latasa put Raúl's boys ahead on 37 minutes but the Andalusians struck back in the second half as Castilla finished the game with nine men. The madridistas will now close out their campaign against Betis Deportivo next weekend at the Alfredo Di Stéfano

The two teams knew exactly what they were playing for from the off, as reflected in the intensity with which both sets of players went about their business at the Nuevo Mirador. Algeciras could have gone ahead almost straight from kick-off as Luis López kept out an Almenara header, before Romero picked up the ball in the box but could only fire his shot off the wrong side of the post. The madridistas responded quickly through Arribas, who enjoyed two decent chances to put the team in front on 13’ and 19’. With just over half an hour gone, Villar had to replace Dotor due to an injury. Castilla then made it 0-1 before the break, when Latasa turned home Arribas' cross from the right hand side (37’).

Second half
The dynamic of the game shifted in the second half as Algeciras came out with the bit between their teeth, and Renato was close to finding a leveller on 50 minutes. Luis López then had to be at his best to keep out an Almenara strike before the Andalusians did find the goal on 71’, through Roni. In the following move, Theo was given his marching orders for a second yellow card and seven minutes later, Castilla were reduced to nine when Blanco was shown a straight red card. With two players less on the pitch, the madridistas held on to take a point on their last away trip in the league.
