Real Madrid-UCAM Murcia

Laso: “The whole team did a great job"

NEWS STORY. 11/05/2022

“We have an important spell coming up next week and these games are good for us to prepare for the Final Four", explained Causeur.

Pablo Laso and Fabien Causeur assessed Real Madrid's win over UCAM Murcia on matchday 33 in the league. The coach reflected: “We did a very good job in defense and in offense. They were on it from the three-point line early on and that kept the game fairly even but then we altered things and brought down Murcia's numbers. From there on, we were fairly dominant. The rebound helped us control the pace of the game. The third quarter was our best and most solid”.

“The team looks in good shape. We were able to rotate all the players and all of them did a great job. It was a real team victory. Everyone contributed really positively to the team and I head away very pleased, beyond the fact we're on a very decent run of results. Having no pressure in terms of the table means this could have been a banana skin. I try to get across to the team that they have to play at one hundred percent. I have to praise them because they all did a great job".

Defensive levels
“My team has been pretty good throughout the season. In our worse spell we struggled in offense and in defense. Sometimes it all comes at once. Our start was brilliant from a defensive point of view. The tie against Maccabi was a clear example that we had to step up defensively and we did just that. We're not lacking in offensive talent, as we showed today".

Final game
“At the end of a 34-game Regular Season, the team that goes down or makes the playoff doesn't do so on the final day. They have had 33 games. We're going to Gran Canaria to win it, we're not thinking about anything else. We want to play well and win it. When you pull on the Real Madrid jersey, you play to win".

Causeur: “It's always good to compete and win games”
“It's an important win in preparation for the Final Four. We weren't playing for anything but it's no good to lose your rhythm, especially up against a team who had a lot to play for today. It was a great effort, Murcia are a team who give it their all”.

“It's always good to compete and win games. We have a key point in the season coming up next week and these games do us good in preparing for the semifinals. When you're focused, things tend to go well, if you're not, you might slip up. The team were clear about that. It's been a very tough Regular Season with some ups and downs but we've made sure of our position. We're getting better all the time and our goal is to make the final and win it".
