In partnership with Tintefish, 80 students from the Buddhist monastery in Gangteng will receive support.

The Real Madrid Foundation and Tintefish have entered into a collaboration agreement aimed at developing the first social sports school in Bhutan. The agreement was formalised by Real Madrid Foundation Executive Vice-President Enrique Sánchez and Tintefish President David Castaño at an event that was also attended by Real Madrid's Director of Institutional Relations, Emilio Butragueño.
The Foundation reaches Bhutan to assist 80 Buddhist students from the Gangteng monastery in the Phobjikha Valley. Situated at an altitude of more than 3,000 metres, it is one of the most isolated rural areas in the country. Working in partnership with Tintefish, the project is intended to provide the younger Buddhist monk students with the opportunity to enjoy suitable leisure and recreational time by playing football.
Butragueño explained: "Being able to enjoy team sport is a motivating and life-enriching activity for those who spend most of their time studying and praying". David Castaño expressed his pleasure: "The monks in Bhutan are disciplined and it's difficult for them to engage in social and sporting activities in general. It will take some adaptation, but they have accepted us and asked us to train them, something that is really nice for us and we feel very grateful".
The students at the school are the youngest novices at the monastery, between the ages of 5 and 17, the majority of whom come from low-income families who cannot afford to pay for their children's schooling. This project will be unique and unprecedented in the country. As well as the basic care provided to the children by the monastery, which provides food, accommodation and education, the project also combines football based on values provided by the Real Madrid Foundation, following the For a Real Education: Values and Sport methodology. On top of the sports sessions, the children will be given nutritional guidance, will take part in workshops about hygiene and healthy living habits, and will also be involved in a range of educational and social activities.
