After extending their lead at the top of the table last time out, this evening Real Madrid head to one of the toughest grounds to visit in LaLiga so far this campaign – the Estadio de Vallecas. The Whites go into the matchday 26 clash against Rayo (6:30pm CET) with the aim of picking up another vital three points in their fight for the league title.
Only two teams (Athletic and Osasuna) have emerged victorious from Vallecas this term and Madrid will be looking to the in-form front three of Karim Benzema, Vini Jr. and Marco Asensio to lead the side to victory. All three forwards found the back of the net last Saturday against Alavés and the Majorcan has produced two wonder strikes in consecutive games.

"Rayo will make it tough for us, but the team is prepared", said Carlo Ancelotti in the press conference ahead of the clash. Both Toni Kroos and Benzema, who were on target in the reverse fixture that finished in a 2-1 win for the madridistas, have been included in the squad, with David Alaba and Gareth Bale being the only absentees.
Rayo Vallecano had a sensational start to the season and forced their way into the Champions League positions for a while. The side currently sit mid-table on 31 points, with a record of nine wins, four draws and 11 defeats. Iraola’s men pose a real threat in attack, with Falcao and Álvaro García, the team´s joint top-scorers with five goals apiece.
