El Banco Mundial reconoce a las escuelas sociodeportivas de la Fundación en Rumanía como caso de éxito

The World Bank recognises the Foundation's schools in Romania as examples of success

NEWS STORY. 15/02/2022

Its model has been published in the 'Handbook for preventing the separation of children from their families', which is co-funded by the European Social Fund.

The ‘Handbook for preventing the separation of children from their families', edited by the World Bank and the European Social Fund, includes among the success stories the model developed by the Real Madrid Foundation's socio-sports schools in Bucharest. These are run in partnership with the FDP-Protagonists in Education Foundation, thanks to the support of the UEFA Foundation for Children.

The project was launched in 2012 in Romania and provides support to children at risk of exclusion in Bucharest. Its aim is to combat school dropout and to teach positive values through sport and culture as tools for integration and motivation. During this 10-year period, the socio-sports schools have also advocated for the inclusion of girls and have worked towards a positive influence on coping with the stress caused by complex family situations. The programme also offers socio-educational activities including tutorials, health promotion workshops, participation in sporting and cultural events, to name but a few.

The World Bank and European Social Fund Handbook for the National Authority for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Children and Adoptions in Romania seeks to give visibility to and share different educational models of social intervention that help to prevent the separation of children from their families.
Schools in Bucharest

The Real Madrid Foundation's socio-sports schools in Bucharest cater for some one hundred minors, boys and girls, under the Foundation's methodology For a Real Education: Values and Sport. The teachers-coaches are trained and an educational programme is implemented, which includes socio-cultural activities to complement the sports sessions. This season, the third socio-sports school was inaugurated in the Teuil Doamnei neighbourhood.
