Pablo Laso previewed Real Madrid’s EuroLeague Round 21 match-up against Bitci Baskonia (Friday, 8:45pm CET) and had the following to say: “We've not played in the EuroLeague since the CSKA game and the team is raring to get back to it. It's been a strange few weeks for all of the teams, but we're looking forward to playing in front of our fans again”.
“The team is in good shape. I haven't got any major issues. We’re welcoming players back and our last few training sessions have been really good: players are getting up to speed, we got few injuries and are welcoming players back who have suffered COVID-19. In terms of the work being put in by the roster, I'm happy and am optimistic”.
“I'm not one to look back on games because every match is different. I continue to believe that Baskonia are a team with immense individual quality that’s very strong on one-on-ones and difficult to stop and they've got some very good shooters. Enoch is capable of sinking three-pointers and Peters’ returns following his injury, then you’ve got the one-on-one play from Baldwin III, Fontecchio, Giedraitis, Granger, etc. Their offensive power sometimes sees them put in some very good performances, like the one they delivered against Barcelona. They’re a team that continues to seek their formula and we must show them great respect”.
“We’re now in January and our consistency levels are improving. We’ve produced a lot more solid minutes and there are less ups and downs. We've been very consistent defensively and offensively we play the ball around well. Overall, the team has been very solid throughout the season. Our play is improving and we're aiming to keep that up following this break that all of the teams have faced”.
