The Real Madrid center's 251 in 142 games overtake Fran Vázquez.

Today Walter Tavares became the third highest blocker in the history of the Euroleague. The 3 he made against Olimpia Milan bring his total to 251, overtaking Fran Vázquez's 249. The centre from Cape Verde, with 1.76 per game, has the highest average of the top-10 players with the most blocked shots in this competition. Ahead of him are Anadolu Efes centre Bryant Dunston (279) and Olimpia Milan power forward Kyle Hines (270).

The madridista is on track to make Euroleague history when it comes to blocks. Tavares has reached 250 blocks in less than five seasons and only 142 games played. The two players before him took much longer to reach that figure. Dunston did it in 8 seasons and Hines in 11.

Two-time best blocker
The great dominator of this department in recent times, he's been the top blocker in two seasons. He averaged 1.7 in 2018-19 and 1.8 per game in 2020-21. He also leads the stats this season with 27 blocked shots in 16 games. An average of 1.8, four tenths more than Monaco centre Donta Hall. His best number of blocks in a Euroleague game is 5.
