The Santiago Bernabéu welcomes one of the most anticipated derbies for the home fans, as Real Madrid will host Atlético for the first time at the stadium since the beginning of the pandemic (9pm CET). Both sides go head to head following their qualification for the Champions League on matchday 17 of LaLiga. Carlo Ancelotti’s side will be looking to extend their fine form and collect a tenth consecutive win.
To add extra spice to the occasion, the league leaders have the chance to extend their lead at the top of the table while pegging back one of their toughest title challengers. The Whites are currently ten points above Atlético, but the visitors have one game in hand. The madridistas have won their previous two home clashes against Diego Simeone’s team.

"We're performing well and head into the derby full of confidence", said Ancelotti in the press conference ahead of the clash. The Italian will be delighted with the inclusion of Karim Benzema in his squad. The LaLiga pichichi has netted 12 times so far this season, two more than Vini Jr., with whom he forms the most clinical striking partnership in the competition.
Atlético go into the derby after defeating Porto to seal their place in the last 16 of the Champions League. Simeone’s side lost last weekend against Mallorca, which brought to an end an unbeaten run of seven league games. The rojiblancos currently sit in fourth place in the league table, with a record of eight wins, five draws and two defeats.
