League leaders head to Real Sociedad

PREVIEW. 04/12/2021

Real Madrid head to San Sebastián in search of their eight straight win (9 pm CET)

Barely four days into December and Real Madrid are back in action for the second time this month, as they take on Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena on matchday 16 of LaLiga (9 pm CET). The Basque stadium is never an easy ground to play at and Carlo Ancelotti’s side will have to be at their best in order to maintain their strong lead at the top of the league table and pick up an eight straight win.

They face a side who were league leaders up until two weeks ago and who remain unbeaten on home soil with a record of four wins and three draws. However, Real Madrid have produced some sizzling attacking football of late, largely down to the Benzema-Vini Jr. partnership, who have netted an impressive 21 times between them (12 for the Frenchman and 9 for the Brazilian). Both Madrid stars have also found the net against Real Sociedad on previous occasions.

“The league is going to be very tight until the end”, said Ancelotti in the press conference ahead of the clash. The Italian has also announced his squad for his side’s trip to San Sebastián.
Champions League objective
Imanol’s side have had a blistering start to the campaign and currently sit in the Champions League spots. They go into the weekend on 29 points in third place and they will be looking to emerge victorious at the Reale Arena, where they have only conceded one goal. Oyarzábal is the team’s top scorer with six goals.
