Pablo Laso and Thomas Heutel analysed Real Madrid’s win against Casademont Zaragoza on matchday 12 of the league. The madridista coach was pleased with his side’s display: “I’d like to congratulate the team on the win. We had a very good start to the game but they punished us with end-of-possession plays, three pointers and offensive rebounds, which prevented us from building a bigger lead. Then they did better in the second quarter. We made some mistakes defensively, but the intensity we showed during the match helped us in the end. The final score was a bigger difference than what we saw on the court. The team's work in terms of commitment was excellent. When we improved some details that were costing us baskets and losses, we controlled the game well and we managed to secure a victory on a court that we know is always tough to play on”.
“Today was a day when the squad was able to pull off the result. We rotated the players a lot and we set a high tempo, which we knew could wear them down. We got better and better and the work we did in the second half showed. Wiiliams-Goss was terrific. The team managed to hold their own in the worst moments and then everyone chipped in and so I'm delighted with everyone's work”.
“This is a player who hadn't played for almost a year. He‘d been training for days at a good level but you have to go gradually training and matches. I'm pleased and I'm happy for him, I could see he was happy. We’ve seen the good things from Randolph and we’ll forgive him for the bad things. It’s important for him and for the team to have him back as soon as possible. We're delighted that he's back and pleased with the win”.
“He’s done really well. For such a young lad to come to Real Madrid last year and play as a point guard isn’t easy. He adapted really well and is improving day by day, which is very important for him. He’s a very mature player, who knows that he has to take advantage of every minute. It's just unfortunate that he's been out of action for a while now. We hope it won't be long. I'm pleased to have him in the team and he’s very loved at Real Madrid”.
Heurtel: “We played well in the second half”
“It was a difficult game but in the second half we played very well, with great intensity. We’re doing well. Physically, everyone contributed and it was a really big win. We have to continue like this. We’re really pleased for Randolph. I went through this situation myself. He played very well today and we’re delighted. We have a very big squad and any one player would be the star in another team. We can all score and we have proved this”.
