Arbeloa celebrates 10th anniversary of the Foundation's school in Egypt

More than 1,000 children have developed their football with positive values in partnership with Fame Academies.

Álvaro Arbeloa, ambassador of Real Madrid and the club's Foundation, travelled to Zamalek (Egypt) to take part in the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the football school run by the Foundation along with FAME Academies in the country. The programme was launched in 2011 at the Platinum Club academy and in Maadi, Cairo.
An institutional event during the morning was held in the presence of Ahmed Abdoum, CEO of Fame Academies; Niveen Al-Qabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity; Ramón Gil Casares, Spanish Ambassador to Egypt; Hesham Hatab, President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, during which Arbeloa remarked: "We believe that football taught properly improves the lives of those playing it, not only physically and in terms of health but also in their overall development as people offering universal human values".
A visit to the Platinum Club facilities was made in the afternoon, during which they were able to meet the boys and girls who train every week in a programme which combines the Foundation's training methodology adapted to a continuous format, along with education in values through sport.
Alongside this project, and thanks in part to the financial support it provides, the Real Madrid Foundation is developing two social sporting projects in this country for children at risk of exclusion: one in Alexandria with Salesian Missions and the other in Mahkama with Manos Unidas. These social sporting schools provide a safe space for children who are socially disadvantaged to be educated and to enjoy sport. FAME Academies is going to increase this range of social activity even more thanks to its collaboration, with a new project that will soon be launched to help a hundred orphans or children at risk in a new social sporting school.
