NEWS STORY. 23/11/2021

Real Madrid, who concede 68.1 points on average, held Betis to 48 on Sunday, their best defensive performance since 2005.

One of the cornerstones of Real Madrid's great start to the season has been their defence. Our side has conceded the fewest points in the league, averaging 68.1. Last Sunday however, in round eleven, they went one step further and contained Coosur Betis to just 48 points, their best defensive performance in the league in the last 16 years. This is also the lowest number of points conceded in any competition in which Real Madrid have played since the 2006-07 season.

This Real Madrid team is solid as a rock at the back. They know how to attack as well as remembering their defensive duties, and doing so very well. Laso has some impressive specialists on the outside and on the paint. More physicality has been added this season with the arrival of Williams-Goss, Hanga, Yabusele and Poirier, who joined Rudy, Taylor, Causeur, Tavares and company at the end of last season. So far this season they have put in some outstanding defensive performances against MoraBanc Andorra (58 points), Panathinaikos (65) and Fenerbahçe and Anadolu Efes (69).
