Pablo Laso, Rudy Fernández and Walter Tavares reflected on Real Madrid’s road win against Asvel. The coach had the following to say: “We did a lot of good things that helped us to win the game. This was our third match in five days and we made a lot of small mistakes because we're a bit tired, both physically and mentally. However, we controlled the tempo of the game and managed to keep hold of the advantage we established in the first quarter really well to go on and secure an important win on this court”.
“We were aware of just how tough it is to win here and were expecting a tough battle. We’ve got experience of having come here and know just how tough these kinds of games are, even when you take the lead, they keep on fighting and showed that today. I'm really pleased with the win and attach a lot of importance to it, given just how difficult it is to win road games in the EuroLeague”.
Rudy: “We controlled the game well”
“We're pleased with today's win. We were aware that we were coming to a court where they're playing some great basketball and you can see that from the number of wins they've had in the EuroLeague. We put in a very high-intensity performance right from the first minute and defended well. It’s true that they came back into the game thanks to their individual talents. However, in the final quarter, we managed to establish a good lead and and controlled the game”.
“Having so many games in quick succession is taking its toll and we’ve got no chance to rest, but we're doing fine. We play again on Thursday and Sunday and we've got to be at 100% to make sure we go into Sunday's game ready to compete”.
Tavares: “We kept our focus”
“We kept our focus and that was one of the keys to us winning the game. We were in the game for the full 90 minutes and when that's the case, it's virtually impossible for us to lose the game, although they did push us hard”.
