Today Real Madrid gets another tough month underway against Bayern Munich on round 8 of the EuroLeague (8:45 pm CET). Friday’s matchup will be the first of eight games in the space of 21 days and the fourth consecutive away fixture for the Whites, who head to the Audi Dome in search of a sixth win in the competition.
Pablo Laso’s charges, who currently sit fourth in the competition standings and are one win off the two joint-top sides, will be looking to improve on their performance against Unics Kazan by recording a win against the German outfit, who lie in tenth place in the table. The madridistas have a magnificent record against Bayern and have won seven of the previous nine matchups since 2000.

After defeats in the first four EuroLeague games, the Munich team has managed to prevail in the last three games with wins against Zalgiris, Milan and Alba Berlin. Part of this change of momentum is down to the recovery of Lucic (averaging 13.3 points) and the fine form from Hilliard (15 rating per game). Two more players to watch under the hoop will be Hunter and Thomas.
A solid defence will be crucial
Real Madrid certainly has the firepower to counter Bayern, especially in defence. The Whites have performed at a high level defensively, conceding an average of 70.3 points. This sublime rearguarding is partly due to the rebounding work by Tavares (7.2), Poirier (7) and Yabusele (4.6). In addition, the Cape Verdean center has been spearheading Laso's team's attack with 13.8 points per game.
